From Pizza To Physicals: American Family Care Now Serves State-of-the-Art Healthcare In Haledon

After sitting vacant for much of the COVID-19 pandemic, the building that once housed the old Big Jim’s Pizza is busier than ever. Last December, father and son Alex and Jeff Perchuk transformed the old pizzeria at the corner of Belmont and Haledon Avenues into American Family Care (AFC), a state-of-the-art healthcare facility.

“Today, our highly skilled staff at AFC Haledon is filling a huge void in the area, especially since it is the only option for walk-in urgent care for families and students who live nearby,” explained Jeff Perchuk, independent owner and operator of AFC Haledon. “Everyone in Haledon has embraced us, and we’ve loved teaming up with various organizations in town to provide a variety of medical services to the community.”

The Perchuks are not new to the medical industry. Both Jeff and his father have pharmaceutical experience. Alex started out as a pharmacist years ago before becoming an entrepreneur while Jeff spent seven years in private pharmaceutical sales. Jeff also has an MBA from Ramapo College.

“It did not take us long to see how AFC Haledon is the perfect marriage between business and healthcare for us,” said Jeff. “I always knew I wanted to go into business for myself, and AFC is proving to be a perfect fit. It is very rewarding to build a team of medical providers who work so hard, caring about their patients as well as their community.”

In addition to urgent care, AFC Haledon also offers accessible primary care, occupational medicine, sports physicals, lab testing, and X-rays seven days a week — and you do not need to make an appointment.

“At AFC Haledon, we believe that quality healthcare should be accessible and affordable to everyone. From urgent care to primary care and occupational medicine, our goal is to be the go-to healthcare clinic for families and businesses in the community. We are committed to serving Haledon and making a positive impact on people's lives," said Jeff.

The urgent care clinic is open 8 a.m.– 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m.– 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Learn more about the AFC Haledon at https://www.afcurgentcare.com/haledon/.
